We had a close encounter with a lone brown headed honeyeater, thank goodness I got one good enough photo to identify it. This was at Churchill National Park Rowville Victoria where I counted 29 different species identified including a restless flycatcher and rufous fantail. I'm pleased with the biodiversity there but not with the regular sighting of foxes, hopefully the poisoning there works well.

I guess with the better weather that's been happening over the past few years, foxs and the like have had a population explosion.
I've certainly seen more of them around too, and they seem to have become bolder as well, venturing further into urban areas as resources for them decrease.
Thanks, Lachlan, I agree foxes and rabbits have both been more prevalent I've noticed.

We had a lovely time birding at Chiltern with the extremes of temperature showing different bird actions. Dropped into Winton wetlands on the way to Chiltern, very dry there and hard to see waterbirds without a scope, so just enjoyed the woodland birds but not the flies. Total trip species identified by us amateur birders was 102, so very pleased with that result. We didn't go looking for Regent honeyeaters but the log book at the info centre showed where others had sighted them also the friends of Chiltern newsletter has great info. We did see a Painted honeyeater at 2 different areas so that was special as well as watching the number of different species of birds on hot days come to dams to drink & bathe as well as goannas, albino swamp wallaby with normal joey, echidna etc.
Great place for the lazy birder and Lake Anderson Camping/Caravan park just a beautiful place to be.
Well now back to the grime, look forward to reading the wonderful sightings of others when I get a moment.
