Buff-breasted Paradise-Kingfisher

On Sunday I had booked the seat in the bird-hide near the Buff-breated Paradise-Kingfisher nest (termite mound). I had some work issues and therefore did not get to Mt Charlton until after 7am and then a little walk up to the hide. Took about 30 minutes before a parent bird came to feed the chicks and the next visit was both parents at same time and then I stayed for a 3rd visit.

The BBPK is a beautiful looking bird and it was a great experience - except for the oppressive humidity (I took my glasses off after 5 minutes as they were useless); mosquitos don't like my blood but there were a few of them.

I clearly do not use my portable hide enough.

Wish I had your blood Peter, mozzies eat me alive the blasted things!  That is one STUNNING bird, must have been magic to see first hand.  Were the chicks visible at all from the hide?

I used to say that the alcohol % was too high for the mozzies but no longer drink so now proves that it is my blood; a great morning; chicks not visible as the hide looks across the entry hole; I didn't go anywhere the mound to ensure that I did not disturb the parents
