...went up to Ubirr yesterday afternoon (10 September 2013) and heard the first Channel-billed Cuckoo for the season, just after sunset.

Saw and heard one in Sydney (lower north shore) area this afternoon - was flyng south !
I just heard my first Koel for the season today (in Bundaberg) so they should be coming your way soon.
