Just had a great weekend at Chiltern. Went up on friday and got a few new birds prior to Peter's arrival on Saturday morning. After a lot of research i spent Friday afternoon looking around at the different locations that were recommended.
I can now say that if you are considering going to Cliltern i would recommend that you stick to two spots, Cyanide Dam and Bartley's Block.
The birdlife is amazing, with so many birds i was in awe. Cyanide dam was my favorite spot, with a hide i think you would get a lot of great shots, with many birds and other wildlife coming down for a drink.
Here is a sample of shots i took, some good, some not so but new ones for me.

Hey there rawshorty!
You should have put these in the Photo section of the forum. Awesome photo's all round! Gosh, we have some beautiful birds here in Oz - we're very blessed! Those turquoise parrots look like some budgerigars my grandparents had once - very sweet.
Take Care,

What a great range of birds, looks a magic spot.
Thanks for sharing.
shorty shorty shorty - these are just spectacular as usual! Gee, you & Peter find the jackpot spots - not just with the gorgeous birds, that yellow-footed antechinus is just so darn cute! Were some of these firsts for you, first sighting or first shot? Will definitely be one spot I'll put on my list should I be fortunate to be that way one day.
West Coast Tasmania
Thanks, Trudy, I posted here as it is more about the location than the shots.
Thanks, Rick. It really is a great place for the birds.
Thanks, Annie. Yep, Peter is great to go birding with, he really knows his stuff
Peter only takes pics of birds but i think i am rubbing off on him, he took pics of the Y-F A and the wallabies ( the Y-F A was cute)
I photographed 12 new birds there I don't count sightings, only photos.
This location is a realiable site for the Regent Honeyeater but not in summer, so looks like i will have to go back soon.
Chiltern has the second highest bird count in Victoria, just beaten by Werribee Treatment Plant.

It sounds like a great place to go to! On my "One Day..." list!
Have you seen the trip report about it here:

Love the photos Shorty, especially the one of the Antechinus.
Yep, it was his blog that got my interest in the spot I read a lot of his blogs.

I shoud state for the record that I have kept 2 pics of the marsupial thingy (Y-F A) and haven't sorted the wallabies pics yet but don't like their chances.
I got 2 lifers for the weekend - Turquoise Parrot (good pics) and Painted Honeyeater (not good pics)
for medium term forum members you might remember my difficulty in getting Gang Gang Cockatoo pics during my 6 month stint in Canberra - well Albury is the place for GGCs, at least the ?? Commercial Motel at the Golf Club is.
Peter
And for those that don't know why Peter had a hard time getting Gang Gangs in Canberra.
