I went to Callum Brae (Canberra) today and saw something i observed for the first time last spring.(The cockys were breeding at the time)
The Cockatoos were chasing the Australian Kestrals.

It went on for about 20 minutes. Even a Currawong got involved, i have not seen the black and whites attack the kestrels or BS Kites before only the larger Raptors.

Later i watched a Cocky chasing the other cockys away from a tree so went over to see what was going on. I stayed for 15min and watched one cocky cleaning out a hollow.

Might mean a very warm winter is coming?
The Red browned Finches are also still collecting nesting material, and a lady i know has also seen a pair of Lorrikeet checking out hollows as well.

There's a swan sitting on a nest at one of my local wetlands, which is very late in the season, so I'm not sure how that's going to go. I suppose if the weather stays mild for a little bit rather than dropping off quickly, it might be ok. *Edit: Or it's an early breeding since I've just read that down south they breed June-September, still it's odd.
Thanks for sharing :)

It's unusual hey. I went to a little spot the other day, and there appeared to be some rather confused SFW's there. Some boys (perhaps older) in blue still, some half and half. I even observed a few intimate moments in the open, and one or two boys even wooing their ladies with yellow flower bouquets. Was great for some shots, but I was a bit baffled - particularly given Tassie winter is not far away!
