Corellas

Found a mixed flock of Little and Long Billed Corella's today. Unfortunatley they are an introduced species in Tasmania. Maybe 40 or 50 total.

Didn't realise I had the 2 species until I viewed the photos a home.

These were also attracted by an older lady feeding birds bread. Politeley advised her of the potential health and other isues with feeding bread, reckon I wasted my breath. Mind you I wouldn'thave gotten this close if she was't feeding them. Probably still been happy with some distant photos though.

Some great pics, thanks :-) INteresting that it was a mixed flock - I didn't know they did that - must keep an eye out for exceptions rather than assuming they are all the same

Thanks Alex.

They are also found well outside their "published range" these days.

This post from 2012 makes interesting reading If you have time.

That IS an interesting thread, I'll certainly be checking out my corellas more closely from now on. Cheers

Dale, are these pix with your P900? Did you use the 'bird' scene setting?

These were with the Canon 7D Mk II. Didn't have the Nikon at that time.

If you look at my post for Sulphur Crested Cockatoos (link below) that was with the P100, bird setting.

Nice, they look so much better full size on flickr too. Is that what most of you guys do here? Use external site for your pix? I noticed the upload on the site is limited to just 500kb max, and I have to resize before attempting to upload, bit annoying really. So you just insert a link to the pic on flickr?

Hi tweetee, yes you just copy and paste a link from your Flickr account.

Flickr gives you 1000 free uploads (don't think there is a size limit) and if you want you can remove the adds from about $4.95 a month if you take an annual subscription or $6.95 on a monthly basis (Flickr Pro). If you use a Flickr link to post on forums like BiBY, the link will not work if you delete the photo from Flickr. I just have the free version, will likely upgrade once I have too many photos.

Just be aware that photos you post can be saved by other people if you don't have your security settings set high enough. Personally I don't care so long as they're not making money from my photos.

I've tried a few, like Photobucket, but that wasn't as easy as Flickr. Not entirely sure how some of the others post, as to use Flickr you need to provide a link to their site as a reference.

There is a link on how to,post to BiBY from Flickr which I will provide if you want.

Dont forget that all thes downloads/uploads will contribute to your data usage for whatever internet plan you have.
