Just discovered this wetlands along Dandenong crk Wheelers Hill, Melbourne, Vic, it's wonderful. bike/walk track and gravel roads meander around various large ponds and clay pans. I have photographed Spotless & Australian Spotted crake, red necked advocet, sharptailed sandpipers, 2 species dotterels, little grassbird, golden-headed cisticola and heaps of other wetland birds roughly 40 species.

Are these natural or artificial wetlands, Natstar?
This area would be a natural wetlands before urbanisation, it has industry and urban on the higher ground and was paddocks that flooded used by a cattle under all the transmission towers prior to the Eastlink freeway being installed. Since then the flood plain areas have been modified with ponds and native plantings, some areas are left with just native grass land. The Parks Vic have been rejuvenating along Dandenong Creek for years now and this is helping the native wild life.
Natstar
Good stuff, Natstar. Wetland restoration &/or development seems to be the go with some councils.
