Nice photos - the female satin bowerbirds might look at bit drab, but your photo shows they have lots of colour variations and patterns in their feathers
The Satin Bowerbird was actually an easy snap. There were a couple of them hanging around at the Queen Mary Falls. This one was hopping around right in front of my husband and I, not shy at all. The Koel was a harder one. I hear some comotion in the tree out the back so my boy and I went out and had a look. She was sitting right up the top of the tree with a couple of noisy minors bugging her. She was there for maybe 10 minutes before decided to fly away.
Started bird watching because my 5 year old loves birds. I now enjoy bird watching very much
Lovely shots! Ooh did you go to Queen Mary falls? I was planning on going there but didn't make it, I'd love to hear what birds you saw there. The bowerbird photo is very nice, I love how the sun gives you a glimpse of the puple eye.
Yes we were at Queen Mary Falls. We didnt really go bird watching as my husband and 2 year old were with us (they are both very impatient people) So we only saw the birds that put themselve out there.... Female Satin bower bird, Pied Kurrawong, Laughing Kookaburra, King Parrots and Crimson Rosellas

I know the feeling as I had a similar experience at the Bunya mountains recently, only with siblings :) I'm sure they'll eventually catch on to what you're going on about :) I'm slowly converting the rest of my family! And it sounds like you're starting them nice and young, which is great!
Well done! Not the easiest of birds to photograph, especially the female Koel..

Nice photos, female Koels are especially challenging to get a decent view let alone a fairly good photo.
