Kind sentiments Woko. Pity we Queenslanders have some of societies worst scum to live with. Birds can fly away, the residents in Rockhampton, North Queensland, don't have that choice and have been told to prepare for the city's worst flood since 1954, with the Fitzroy River predicted to peak at 9.4 metres on Wednesday.
Police Superintendent Ron Van Saane said people should keep off the roads and leave their homes early as the floodwaters rise.
He said authorities were working to ensure properties were not looted. However if you read what happened in previous Cyclones and in Mackay and Airlie beach a few days ago it's not encouraging to leave your house to looters. Seriously, how low can some people stoop?
I sense your rage, Reflex. The "scum" to whom you refer are perhaps a reflection of how self-centered many in our society have become. I can't help thinking our economic rationalist system, where there seem to be no boundaries to how people benefit themselves, is part of the reason for this. Or was it ever thus? Whatever, the age of entitlement is not yet dead. While it may be no comfort to those whose homes are looted at least there are stories of people helping each other in these times of horrific crisis.
When admin become aware they don’t last long, your post Lightuningbird has highlighted their presence, and no doubt the account will be cancelled. Happens a lot this time of year, when maybe admin people are having a well earned break!
