Diamond Firetails Again

I'm delighted that a pair of Diamond Firetails are about our house on the south eastern slopes of the Mt Lofty Ranges in SA. A pair stayed with us for a month or so several years ago before departing for parts unknown.

It's near our house that I've been concentrating on enabling the regeneration of native grasses & these are now attracting these lovely birds. One even drank at our bird bath a few days ago.

Fortunately, our neighbours' cat has failed to put in an appearance for some months now so its absence is another factor favoring the Diamond Firetails.

Diamond Firetails are still persisting near our house. For about 4 weeks we've been seeing just a solitary bird feeding mainly on the seeds of Winter Grass, an introduced species.

Today I heard 3 individuals calling from separate locations. These calls were followed by the appearance of 1 Diamond Firetail at our bird bath about 2 hours later. I'm hoping that we now have breeding of this endangered (for the Mt Lofty Ranges) species.
