I did hear this on the ABC news late today. It stabbed me to the core because of all the time & effort Ms Woko & I put into searching for Orange Bellied Parrots in The Coorong & around Lake Alexandrina in SA over some years. We were so very fortunate to have seen them on several occasions &, given their parlous state, I count that as an absolute privelege.
I do wonder if the artificial feeding of Orange Bellied Parrots at Melaleuca (if I remember accurately) in Tasmania is a factor in beak & feather disease afflicting the population. Dreadful if this is the case. Dreadful in any case.
What a dreadful shame that governments wait until a species is on the verge of extinction before increasing overall funding. Surely it would be lots cheaper to protect habitats & eradicate feral predators in the first place.

Heard this on the radio yesterday, some hope but sad it has to come so far in the first place.
