I was heading out this morning and had just got a street away from our house when I spotted a raptor on some power lines. Curiosity got the better of me and I turned around and went back. There was a lovely Collared Sparrowhawk posing beautifully.
I am certainly not advocating getting distracted whilst driving but what has caught your eye bird-wise web you have been out doing other things?
Cape Barren geese while cycling at Lake Alexandrina. I'm thinking of investing in helmet cam.
Too many to count, mostly raptors, helmet cam sounds like a good idea Woko.
many times I have been driving and my passenger has not seen the birds, and even koalas, that are obviously visible
I put this down to the fact that I am a biker and have developed an increased sense of awareness that aids survival

Lots of cool stuff. Many raptors out my way, including all the Sydney species. Most days I see at least three to four species. Not that I want to rub it in, it's just the way it is near Castlereagh......

I was driving to a farm that runs along one edge of Lake Lonsdale when I saw what I thought was a overly large flock of grass parrots 50 or more, a few landed on a fence and I relised they were budgies,I stopped and watched them until they flew off of course no camera,I never thought I would see budgies around here in Stawell we're only about 150k from Ballarat and its damn cold here at the moment!
I drive from Gembrook to Cockatoo almost every day, there is a BROWN FALCON sitting on the power lines every time I drive past. Sometimes I can stop the car just long enough to have a good look at him, but I would not get out of the car, there is NO room to park the car safely, and as much as I want to get a photo, I don't want to get myself killed for a falcon.
When my husband and I drove past today, we saw TWO FALCONS. Wow, how good is that? I know the people who live on top of that hill, I might ask them if they have a nest in their trees? There aren't many other trees in that area.
I keep the camera next to me on the front seat now when I drive past, who knows? One day.........
