Early morning at Eagleby Wetlands

For what seems months the wetlands have been quiet, firsty the heat and then rain and strong winds. The heat is now tolerable, and rain and cyclones have gone and the wetlands are starting to liven up. Intermediate Egret, Azure Kingfisher, Pale-headed Rosella, White-necked Heron, Little Black cormorant, Red-browed Finch.

Seems like you enjoyed a great day there. Lovely set of birds.

The wetlands I usually go to has dried up considerably and nothing much is happening there so quite envious.

Thanks Sue. Know where you are coming from. Eagleby Wetlands were bone dry all of 2016 and then we had the big floods of March 2017 and they have been a true wetlands ever since. The floods were up to about three metres over the tracks so it is only now the place is starting to get back to what you would consider "normal." The birds are also returning so it is now an exciting habitat again. Hope you get some rain! Cheers Muzz
