Eastern Whipbird in the Tiger Grass

This Eastern Whipbird actually stood still for just a moment, it's so rare to get a focussed shot!

O, that's just beautiful. Well done, I have not been able to get any photos of them, although they live next door. How gorgeous are they!!!

My photographic prowess is well short of yours, but my model saved the day :)  They are so tricky to catch!

Great pics.  I was lucky to see a couple of these on the weekend, but even if I had had my camera with me I wouldn't have been able to get a good shot; they were there and gone so fast!

Fantastic ann-marie and that is one we rarely get to see on here. You were so lucky that he came out to play cheeky

Well caught !

I accidentally caught it in flight over the weekend, while attempting to take a still, and got this blurry shot. Blurry or not, it shows how aptly named the birds are, not just for their call :)  Little wonder people find them hard to photograph.

That's a funny one isn't it? Good reflexes !

that wasn't reflexes, i was trying to take a photo of a bird sitting on a fence, and this is what i got instead. there's no way i could have taken this deliberately!

Wonderful photos Anne-Marie. I see them often but have not managed a good clear photo .

Love this one as it really demonstrates the difficulty involved. Wonderful whether it be reflexes or accident.

Ha ha ha ....that is funny too. Isn't it always the way?  I have just about stepped on the little sods and still not been able to get a shot off! I once had a pair of them one each side of a path through a patch of bracken .... they were calling frantically to eachother and I could see the bracken moving and shuffling   but I COULD NOT SEE THEMcheeky

I love them and to hear them is always a delight.

Cheers

oh i know all about it! it's taken months for me to see one, and then suddenly they were everywhere, but moving so fast, like a temptation that could not be realised.

the call and answer is a fabulous song, i didn't know that there were two birds involved until i saw it. i think i will go back to just listening to them for a while now. maybe :)

me again, I so envy you, I have heard them for so long, but can't get to them. I have never seen them fly, lucky you.

I have said something similar to myself but find it extremely hard to resist when you hear their call

I then, somewhat foolishly, think to myself - 'It will pose for me this time'

What wonderful shots Anne marie. We often hear them but never see them, we have a few very blurry hurried shots but thats it. Im sure alot of us could spend hours trudging through the parks thinking its over there, no its over there lol. Thanks for posting your shots. Very jealous maybe one day we will get some shots as brillant as yours.

Well that is high praise smiley  All I can say is that I sat in one place and hoped it would re-appear, as it madly hopped about the small jungle growing in that part of the garden. Chasing it seemed like a fool's errand smiley
