Emu

Last Saturday, 27/8, an Emu turned up at my place on the southeastern slopes of the Mt Lofty Ranges in SA. It's behaviour in following my grandchildren & me around for quite some time suggested it was an escapee. It & my grandchildren were gone the next day but in different directions, I suspect.

I imagine it's been many an aeon since Emus wandered wild where I live so if this alleged escapee decides to take advantage of the local habitat then it will be a welcome addition to the local bird life diversity, particularly if a mate joins it.

they can be acclimatised quite well

some were released in remnant bush in frankston near melbourne and the population is still there decades later

There are no boibies around here so I guess it must have stolen mine, too, timmo.
