New first for me wandering around the bush. A young willy wagtail caught in a Orb Spider web.
Fortunately the bird was able to break free after a minute or so and spent next few minutes dolefully pecking the web off its wings

Wow agree very interesting observation. Their web is very strong- I recently felt one, like guitar strings when you tug on them, but I wouldn't have though it would be sticky enough to keep hold of a wagtail!

Glad the Willy was ok. I wonder if the spider would have had a go at eating it hadn't not broken free.
Thanks guys, yes i was very surprised to the bird stuck. Initially i though it had been caught by fishing line.
At the time Dev i would have said no but after doing a google search of orb spiders and birds im not so sure :)
