Due to the good winter rains the small, ephemeral dams in our valley have had water in them for some weeks. Along with the water there is a cacophony of frogs at sunset & other ribbid noises at other times. Coinciding with this firing up of the frog population, not to mention poopulation, is the daily visit of a White-faced Heron to these dams. I reckon there's a connection so protect those frogs, folks!

I have recently been participating in a debate in another forum where people are defending the super-duper-trawler that was proposing to decimate our fish and dolphins. It has been exhausting, and it's nice to hear someone extolling the virtues of not killing things for human benefit!

Darin, I'm no frog expert (or any other kind of expert) but using the calls on the Frogs of Australia website I seem to have the Southern Brown Tree Frog & the Mallee Spadefoot Toad. That's my best guess, anyway.
