I live in Morphett Vale SA. Over the last few weeks, I have observed flocks of yellow tail black cockatoos in the area. On sunday 18/7, on south road near the victoria hotel, I observed about one hundred of them by the road, and sitting in a small tree, some were even sitting on the ground
by the road. I have lived in Morphett vale for almost 35 years, and never seen any black cockatoos in the area. Can anyone explain their presence.

i live in Toowoomba and have been here for 24 years - we are suppose to have Glossy Black Red Tailed and Yellow Tailed in our area but until a few years ago we hadn't seen any. Then when we had that big drought they started to fly over - flocks of 40 + - they haven't come every year since then but they do seem to turn up when it's dry further out west.
don't know if that solves your problem but lack of rain out west seems to be why they turn up here
