I live in Yamba North Coast NSW and every year we are visited by a pair of common Koels which frequent the tall Swamp Oaks on the riverbank. Each year they arrive around HSC exam time, late October and they depart around Australia Day, late January. I haven't heard a baby Koel this year so am unsure where they laid their egg and what resident birds are rearing the chick. Does anyone know the time frame of incubation and at what age the Koel chick flies north? All our neighbors dislike the Koels because they are so noisy, but i am fascinated by them.
I don't know much about koels so someone else may be able to help. But I hope your neighbours are equally disparaging of chainsaws.
