Ryde/Hunters Hill Flora & Preservation Society is holding a walk and talk about owls on Saturday 06th August 2011.
A guided bushwalk will head out at 1300hrs to spot birds and wildflowers in the Field of Mars Reserve, starting from the visitor Centre.
At 1400hrs, Holly Parsons, manager of the birds in backyards programme for Birds Australia, will give a talk at the Environmental Education Centre.
It is entitled: "Finding The Powerful Owls of Sydney-Time To Get Nocturnal."

Yes I am giving a talk on Saturday afternoon at Field of Mars :)
Its a busy weekend - I am also giving a talk on Saturday morning for Oatley Flora and Fauna Society for residents of Oatley and surrounding areas and then Sunday I will be running a workshop for our Powerful Owl volunteers.
It appears there's lots of interest in natural things in your area. Wonderful stuff!!
Would love to attend this Holly, but unfortunately I am attending the Trading & Investment Seminar at Darling Harbour on Saturday 06th August. Funny thing, I don't live all that far from Field of Mars either! Hope you meet up with many of the Sydney members.
It was a great presentation by both you and Rod, Holly. We had a lot of fun and cannot wait to get cracking with out owls out west. :-) I have sent an image to you of you and Rod with the stuffed :-( owl specimen.
