King Parrots

For the first time in 60 years, this morning (Mon 22/8/11) I observed a pair (male & female) of king parrots in my front year in suburban Hurstville NSW.

Hi Terry, I don't know where Hurstville is? Is it out of range for the King Parrots? I thought they go all the way up the coast? I have lots and lots of them in the Bunyip State Park.(Vic) I love them. Enjoy them, they are a beautiful bird !
Seeing this is your first post, welcome!!!

Hurstville is in the St George District of Sydney. It is a fair distance from any large wooded areas. I have lived here for 60 years & this is the first time I have ever seen any at this location. There are always plenty of rainbow lorikeets, sulphur crested cockatoos, the odd crimson rosella, occasionally a pair of eastern rosellas & the odd galah; never king parrots. It was an absolute delight to see them here.
