Hi all
I was at Metung today and witnessed a big black swan with a smaller black swan. The bigger black swan chased another smaller swan who was swimming in front of the pair. The bigger swan attacked the lone swan bitting it on its lower neck and on its body. The smaller swan did not attempt to fly away or swim away ( it looked healthy). The bigger swan kept attacking the lone swan for at least 2 minutes.The attack ceased and the lone swan swam to shore,landed and sat down,making noises. 5 or 6 other swans watched the lone swan, it then died after a few minutes and the other swans swam away. I have never seen this level of aggression in black swans, is this normal?
