Good news for Swift Parrots?

Today's Mercury online (Hobart). Let's hope these new devices work, and then perhaps they can be adapted for other species.

While engineering solutions to glider predation of Swift Parrots in Tasmania are admirable I can't help feeling that this device is a stop gap measure.

I understand sugar gliders were introduced to Tasmania. Surely there's a need to relocate the sugar gliders to their natural areas while simultaneously protecting & restoring their natural habitat in the relocation areas.

I agree woko unfortunately the cute factor takes over when you mention sugar gliders. Would be more than happy to help repatriate a few back from where they originally came from. We actually have carers dedicated to raising orphaned and injured sugar gliders, which seems to me to be a bit hypocritical, when such organisations are here to protect our native wildlife.

Dale, there's certainly education of our population needed so that we can get past the cute factor & focus on the protection of species & their habitats.
