It was a bit far away for a good pic but i was surprised to see a Grebe standing up, not something you see every day.

Yes, it is unusual. Some months ago when there was water in a small dam near our house I saw an Australasian Grebe standing on our lawn, about 40 meters from the dam. It took me a few seconds to realize what it was!
I don't think I have ever seen them standing. i just assumed they had legs. Looks taller than what you would think.
Yes. I think that's what threw me, Devster. Having only ever seen Australasian Grebes on water it was strange to see one with a body so far above terra firma. And with such big webbed toes, grandma!
I haven't seen one standing in the wild, but they are capable of running short distances.
Let me guess - reeds in front of Bittern Hide, that scenary is becoming quite familiar
