Grey Shrike Thrush ??

Hello, I am a new member.  We live on a property north of Melbourne and I am currently making a list of all of the birds that we see, or have seen, on our small farm.

Last year I took photo of a bird that I think was a Grey Shrike Thrush but I am not sure.  I would be interested in getting some other opinions of the breed of this bird.

Can anyone help with this ID.  I hope that I have attached a couple of photographs.

Thanks again.  I really appreciate your replies and help with the ID.  This morning I was taking some photos of some of the birds that are enjoying the blossums and spring growth and I have another ID problem.  Can anyone help me with this fast moving little bird?  We have quite a few of these birds here today.

Many thanks

Peter

Looks to me like a Yellow-Rumped Thornbill to me

Hi Devster, thanks for the second time today.  Now I have had a look at the Yellow Rumped Thornbill in the Bird finder I am sure that you are right.  I also had a look in my old Peter Slater Field Guide and the ID is confirmed although back when my book was written in 1974 Slater called it the Yellow Tailed Thornbill.   I now have 39 birds on my list but I am sure that my list includes some incorrect identifications and I am also sure that there are a lot of birds that I have not listed yet.  My project continues.  Thanks again.  Peter

And a worthy project it is, too, Peter. Don't hesitate to ask for identifications as there are lots of knowledgeable folk on this forum.

You're very welcome Peter, thats what this Forum is here for, to help each other learn about the birds we share this beautiful country with. I remember when I first started, I had a lot of incorrect names and as my knowledge grew I would look back on photos and go, thats not a ... its a ....

It's also a project that will keep you going for a very long time and before you know it, you will be helping others identify our wonderful birds. All the best
