I've just been watching a Whit-plumed Honeyater grooming itself & noticed that it's tongue was partly extended during the process, rather like a cat uses its tongue when grooming. I haven't noticed this before.

I notice that when a group of honeyeaters come together for a meeting they all stick their tongues out to each other. I have observed this with Noisy Mynahs, White Cheeked, New Holland honeyeaters and Little Wattlebirds. It never fails to crack me up.
