Hey guys
I am heading to Hervey Bay Qld on holidays in Jan and wanted to know if any of you know some decent birding locations in the area.
Also any idea of birds that may be up there but not down in Brissy?
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers

I haven't birded the Hervey Bay area.
On your way go east from Gympie to Rainbow Beach and then north to Inskip point for Black-breasted Button-quail.
North of HB go to Bundaberg - Baldwin Swamp in town for Cotton Pygmy-goose and then to Burnetts Heads for Rajah Shelduck (lagoon off Hermanns Road) and Pilot Station Reservce and Jack Starthdee Park for Fairy Martins, Grey Plover and ??Gerygone and Jan Mcdonald reserve near the river entrance for shorebirds.
You should go to the Hummock, Bundaberg's highest point, for no reason other than to have been there.
While you are on the road keep heading north to Bajool and then turn east to Port Alma and opposite the salt works you should see the Yellow Chat.

Lol Peter.
Good luck trying to convince my family to do that.
Sounds fun though.
