Followed the call of a Golden Whistler, but only found this bird. (it didn't look or sound like a Robin to me)What do you think it is? Has to be a female, I think.

I think you (and I) are right about the female Whistler, I just found a photo I took last year of one that I'm absolutely certain is one.Have a look at it:

does it look similar?

Definitely a whistler, probably a golden in which case it is female (or possibly juvenile, being this time of year?) The little patches of yellow on the wings probably tell the tale.

Good on you for knowing their whistle. I have a few golden whistlers about my place and I am learning to tell the apart from the other birds now.
