Golden or rufous ?

Can someone tell me whether this is golden or rufous whistler.

It's a Rufous Whistler, because his breast is too orange to be a Golden Whistler. There's no mistaking a Golden Whistler - their breasts are a very striking yellow.

Yesterday when I posted those repeat pics they were of the big size and you couldn't see the bird. today they are OK.

Thanks Emma. I know that we have Golden here too, but until recently thought the Rufous was just a duller version.

We have both the Golden and the Rufous in our garden too (in the Perth hills).

They have differing calls, so can tell them apart by listening to them as well. Also, you'll be able to tell the difference between the female whistlers because the female Rufous Whistler has faint vertical grey stripes on its breast, while the female Golden does not.

Yes I definately see the difference. He even has yellow on his shoulderes and back. Ok I will look harder at the colour next time.
