I am thinking this is a black Bittern, but could it be a juv heron of some sort?

Hi Birdie, check out the (imm) Striated Heron of the race macrorhynchus, maybe the rufous form, I think thats what you have.

At first I thought wow a BB, but it certainly lacks a major characteristic of that species, which is a thick cream band running from the bottom base of the bill past the head. I would agree with Ed and Taz! :)
