HI everyone
We rescued this little bird from two cats this morning, he is minus a few tail feathers but he has now rested in the shoe box and we released it on a safe property away from the cats' reach. Can anyone tell me what it is? It was strange that the noisy miners came under the patio to rescue it and attacked the cats. I thought that must mean that it was a baby miner, but when it finally flew it seemed like a fully grown bird.

Cheers

Normally I look at a bird and think 'it's a *****' (not always correctly) but nothing really strikes me about this one, best guess, maybe a young Golden Whistler?

So I'm guessing that it's definitely not a juvenile noisy miner . Is it normal for them to try to rescue another species of bird? I have heard stories of them literally dragging away one of their own if it was stunned or something.

Hey Ed

Just looked up the Juv Golden whistler and that is definitely what is was. Now I am happy that it got away and flew into the thick part of the bush so it could hide. At first it could only manage low flights into the bushes but after an hour or so it recovered.
Thanks for the ID
