In my area buff rumped thornbills are common, I have never seen a yellow thornbill. From the picture I don't know if it is yellow enough, I would be more inclined to say it is buff rumped but its hard to be definitive from that pic.
Given the location I would say that's a buff rumped thornbill.
I find they are excellent birds for eating aphids, since my wife got cats the thornbills don't comein the garden and the aphids are much worse.
I think it could be a yellow thornbill or a buff rumped thornbill. Did you see if it had a yellow rump?
