Anyone else here from Gippsland?

Hi everybody,
I have just discovered this website. It looks terrific.
I have a 30 acre property near Toora in Gippsland. It is half cleared, half bush and half regenerating... or something like that.

Common birds I see are fantails (mainly grey but occasionally rufous), magpies, crows (ravens?), crimson rosellas, ducks, other water fowl, grey shrike-thushes, kookaburras, blue wrens (superb fairies!), yellow-tailed black cockatoos, yellow robins, various honeyeaters, various small birds that are too quick (or boring) to identify.

Other birds I have seen include red-browed finches, fan-tailed cuckoos, grey currawongs, white cockatoos, golden whistlers, butcher birds, herons. I once saw a king parrot.

I often hear whipbirds, but have not seen one yet.

...and last weekend I saw a koala on my property for the first time!

Hi Soakes
You might be interested to know there are two bird watchers who post regular blogs from Gippsland.

They are both experienced naturalists, especially Duncan, of Ben Cruachan. I think you will enjoy following their adventures.
Cheers

Hi Soakes,
Well I am hot in your part of Gippsland but I am nearer to SW Gippsland, we have two acres on the outskirts of Warragul.
Most of the birds that you mentioned are in this area also.
Hope you enjoy your time with Birds in Backyards.
Cheers, Margaret (libramarg)

Hi Margaret. Any part of Gippsland is pretty cool, IMHO!

Add to my list gang gang cockatoos, blackbirds, wedge-tailed eagles and the odd falcon.
