Hi From Nepean/Hawkesbury area West of Sydney

Hi All,

I have only just joined today and am enjoying the wide range of discussions and topics here in the forum.

I have been generally interested in birds since living in far north Qld when I was 14 and got to see so many amazing birds. The bustards, emus (Yes I was one the crazy teenagers who once tried to run down an emu chick, FAT CHANCE! in the days before I knew better!)flocks of wild budgerigars, black cockatoos, sulphur crested cockatoos, the magnificent peregrine falcon, whistling kites, and oh so many more birds delighted my senses every day and I was hooked.

Since then I have been right around Australia a few times and seen so many birds and enjoyed watching them do what they do naturally.

These days I am involved in the birds in backyards surveys and enjoy taking my 20 minute walk and sit every day to see what is happening in my yard and it is making me do my research and ensure I am identifying birds correctly. I am also trying to collect photos of the birds in our yard and make a book for my daughter to share with her friends, she is 22 and has an acquired brain injury, she is healthy and happy and enoys sitting outside with me and listening and watching.

the photos I have so far are not so great so will be purchasing a better camera soonish when money allows and then will share some better pictures.

My great loves at the moment other than my partner and my children is birds, frogs, reptiles and gardening, so naturally I am gardening to provide habitat for frogs, reptiles and birds.

I also enjoy writing, (as if you couldn't tell from my abundance of posts here today!) and have a few hundred poems and about a hundred articles on different topics that I have written over the years.

so I guess a bird lover who likes taking photos and writing has found the right place to be!!!

I hope every body is enjoying their bird watching and in good health.

Hi Araminta,

surprisingly I don't talk a lot these days... too busy typing! LOL.. I guess I am very excited to find a place to share my love of birds and their habitats and the fauna that cohabits with the birds. I am loving the discussions and the photos thank you to everyone for your contributions. I am learning so much!

Welcome Wollemi.... we need more people prepared to "share the passion" as far as I am concerned :')
Do you have a blog? That is a good way to get the words out too ..... still haven't done much with my own but I will....... one day!

Hi Birdie,

I don't have a blog simply because I don't have time for it. I do have facebook to keep in touch with friends and family, and I am the member of several writing websites too but I rarely get a chance to visit them these days.

I do make time for my birding and visiting this site and doing the survey each day.

At the moment I am teaching my daughter a new communication system, and getting her walking a lot more to build up her endurance and muscles while creating a sensory room for her along with keeping up with her therapists, day program, and various other people involved in her life.
