I have been seeing and hearing a pair of little eagles in the sky around my place for a few months now, obviously they were nesting nearby but I couldn't find the nest - I know they nest around late winter in a tall tree. On Saturday I heard one calling in a tree on a property across the road so decided to investigate. I found they young eagle, newly fledged and calling from a tall tree. High in the tree there was a big mistletoe which was hiding the nest, it was well hidden. I know it was the new nestling because it just sat in the tree and watched me approach, an adult would never let a human get so close.
Here is the nest in the mistletoe (you will just have to take my word that there is a nest in there).
When I returned the nestling was in a different tree but I could get close for a picture, the bird has a piece of meat in its claw on the branch.

Great to hear that Little Eagles are breeding in your neck of the woodlands, Greg. It does my heart a power of good!
That is a great news indeed. Maybe they keep coming back seeing what a nice neighbor you are :)
Good point, Tlff. The less threats & disturbances we pose the more likely we are to have birds breeding nearby.
Great to see and hear they are nesting, i hope they are succesful, ill be hoping for an update when its safe to do so.
