Lorikeets eating autumn peach leaves

I note that a vet recommends feeding lorikeets peach & apricot juice (as opposed to providing natural habitat). Presumably this recommendation relates to vitamin intake. 

Also, I've observed Eastern Grey Kangaroos eating exotic tree leaves apparently in preference to adjacent exotic grasses. Perhaps there's a connection between lorikeets eating peach leaves & kangaroos eating exotic tree leaves.
