I went for a drive to Bowra Sanctuary near Cunnamulla, Qld last week and was pleased to find a MMC feeding on the roadside between St George and Cunnamulla

Bowra is on my bucket list, along with kakadu and a few other hot spots for birding.

good, I went out in May and can't remember if I posted on that trip

my 3 target birds for Bowra were - Bourke's Parrot, Hall's Babbler and Chestnut-breasted Quail-Thrush

May '15 trip I saw Bourke's Parrot

Sept '15 trip I saw Hall's Babbler

looks like I have to go back in 2016

some more pics, hover your mouse over the pic for the species name

the White-backed Swallow is not a great pic but that was my 2nd sighting and they are a very fast bird

Great stuff! I have a list of places that I want to have a look at including Bowra. All these birds would have been a first for me.

What is your bird count / birds photographed up to now?

Samford Valley Qld.

thanks for the comments

Australian list is 586 species + 188 sub-species

(Australian Ringneck - Port Lincoln Parrot is the nominate race and counted as a species, in addition I have seen/got pic of Twenty-Eight Parrot and Malle Ringneck and therefore 2 ssp count)

No pic of 21 but I need to recount after the recent big efforts on sorting my pics.

I saw Araminta's 'Emu chick' thread and that reminded me of the number of dad Emu and chicks that I had seen on my Bowra trip

Gorgeous pics Peter. There's just something about arid country birding, isn't there?
