Has anyone else caught Moose in the Glen on ABC TV? It's the story of Paul Lister & his 25,000 acre property Alladale in Scotland. He's "re-wilding" the property through revegetation & reintroducing animals which were once there. (Fortunately he can afford to.) He's caused controversy with his plans to re-introduce wolves so that they can keep down the numbers of red deer which feed on the revegetation. It's a wonderful project to ensure the preservation of wilderness & its creatures in the UK. Highly recommended to nature lovers. www.alladale.com for more information.
Haven't seen the show. Wouldn't it be great to be so rich you could afford to do something like this. We can only improve our own back yard, but often to the annoyance of our neighbours, sadly.

It seems you've had reactions from your neighbours to your own efforts. What sort of issues have they been raising?
Woko, I've had no serious reaction as I have great neighbours, but they don't like birds, and they don't like the noisy birds especially. I get heaps of lorikeets in, corellas, galahs, and the odd cockatoo, plus the koels that start way too early. Noisy miners gather and fuss, and the dawn chorus is sometimes too much for the neighbours. I love it. I love waking up with the birds and hearing all the sounds of nature, early before the traffic starts and kids start screaming etc. Luckily, we are all tree lovers, though I'm the only one that still has the big gums trees.

Sounds like they like to be shut off from nature, Karen. With people living faster & faster lives & getting more & more tired perhaps your neighbours like to rise as late as possible. I find a lot of people like to have nature fit around them rather than vice versa.
