Murray Darling River System

Has anybody watched the 4 Corners report this week on what is happening to this river basin, apparently the big agribusiness of cotton are sucking the river system dry robbing it of life giving environmental  water, at tax payers expense,  $13 billion worth. All made possible by the corrupt and unscrupulous politicians we so eagerly voted for. An absolute national disgrace.

Yeees, doublebar, as Tony Greig would have said, a compleet disoster.

All jokes aside, this apparently corrupt farce shows how far we have to go before our wildlife, not to mention Murray-Darling Basin human communities, are protected.

Thank goodness for the ABC's exposure of this alleged atrocity on our natural environment. Is it time for the UN  to intervene with an environmental protection force? I pose this question because it seems at least several of our governments, or at least members of those governments, are right behind the alleged corruption. And you know the situation is really serious when a number of agriculture groups are up in arms about what Four Corners has revealed. Interestingly, as far as I know, the field & game groups have yet to have a say on this matter. And the SA opposition parties are yet to make any significant noise about it which suggests there are segments of our society which are in a real quandry about how to respond to the Four Corners revelations - which is yet another indication of the lack of support for our natural environment on which Australia's agriculture sector depends.

Serious, very serious times, my friends.
