O'Rielly's

Went with Reflex and another keen birder to O'Riellys on the weekend.

If you haven't been, put it on your list.

I saw more Regent Bowerbirds in an hour than I have seen my whole life.

Here are just some of the pics but I am still sorting to may add some more later.

Enjoy.

Thats pretty cool.

I love their call to. It sounds like "Walk to work"

Thanks for the comment.

NB. Tip enlightenedIf you do decide to go make sure you get there early and take your flash (and spare batteries) with you.

Some good information here:

This was my third visit and I saw by far the most amount of birds this time by being there early in the morning. We arrived at 07:00 am after a two and ½ hour drive, including the mandatory stop for a coffee and a chunky steak pie at Canungra (magnificent pies).

Great photo's!

Thanks for the lovely comments guys.

Yeah looking at the male King Parrot I think I pulled the red out a little too much.

I did that to retain the detail.

May have to redo that one.

Hope you don't mind Devster if I add a photograph that I took with my I-Phone at one stage early last Sunday morning.

In this one small tree alone I counted 8 adult Regent Bowerbirds, 4 immature Male Regent Bowerbirds although some of those may have been female Satin Bowerbirds (hard to tell on the photograph), 2 Crimson Rosella's and a male King Parrot.

I just thought that Rick in particular would like to see this one.smiley

What a great day. We (Hubby and 2 kids) took a spontanious trip up to O'Reilly's today. Master 4 had a wonderful time with King Parrots and Crimson Rosellas landing on him. Best day of his life according to him.

Saw the beautiful Satin Bowerbird and Regent Bowerbirds (one stole my sandwich out of my hand!) Also watched a couple of whipbirds running and flapping around the forest floor.

No noisy pitta today :-( Will try again another time

Lovely stuff, Devster and others.

On your comment about Satin Bowerbirds, I can also highly recommend the Bunya Mountains for Bowerbirds, Catbirds, King Parrots etc. Though it is a 3 hr drive from Brissie and not a 1 hr drive, so better for a long weekend than a day trip.

Cheers
