Single bird seen in our heavily treed bush garden last week. Today sighted 3. Stunningly beautiful hawk. One swooped and hung, wings extended upside down in blue gum. Came out with caterpillar.
Have never seen this bird here before (or anywhere actually).

Nobody could be as excited as you, Elizabeth, but it's certainly a thrill to see a species that you haven't seen before on your patch. When it happens at my place on the s.e. slopes of the Mt Lofty Ranges, SA, it makes all the hard work in establishing habitat worthwhile.
