A Pied Stilt in Beenleigh, Qld?

I've been told it is hard to tell the difference between a Pied Stilt and the other black and white one. Thanks.

Pied, Black-winged and White-headed Stilts are just alternative names for the bird pictured above. The Banded Stilt has no black down the neck and has white down the centre of the back as well as a chest band if in breeding plummage. Hope that is of some help.

I especially like the second image and those candy pink legs.

Hi Sue,

Yes, that helps a lot. Thanks very much.

This fellow was quite unexpected. It is the first time that I'd seen it in the park (or anywhere else for that matter). The pink legs are pretty cool.

Always nice to get a surprise. I forgot to add that a Banded Stilt would be unexpected in your area.
