These photos where taken of the same bird on the SA coast near the WA border in September. The tail looks Fairy-wren-ish except for it pointing down but the up crest was interesting. Help is very much appreciated.

I'd say that's a male White-winged Fairy-wren in non-breeding plumage based on dark bill, location & habitat. Also, I think male Fairy-wrens are able to raise their crests.
As an amateur birder, I had no idea that Fairy-wrens had crests, the bad photo that I took has a significant one, I was looking at similar birds. Now that I am looking at the different Fairy-wrens in the area it seems bill & lores colour decides which one. Thank you.
Usually, the male Fairy-Wren's crest is only seen when it is singing vigorously. At least, that's what I've observed with male Superb Fairy-wrens.
