I was quite excited on my bike ride home last night to hear a Powerful Owl calling as I came through Toohey Forest in Brisbane's south.
It's a relatively large patch of bush, so they are probably not that uncommon in there, but I have never heard or seen one there myself. I have heard Southern Boobooks in the area relatively often and occasionally heard a Barking Owl.
