Interesting priorities indeed. Apparently, rather being scrutinised for killing a 6.5m creature that is incidentally the first recorded in Victoria for over 70 years, it would seem the fishing fleet is to be lauded for its contributions to science...
On the news report I saw they said the reason the shark ended up in the net was because it was already dead and rather than make a lot of money selling the fins they had decided to donate it to science.
