Today I saw a Red Wattlebird shimmy with its tail spread. There were no others of its species nearby that I could see but I wondered if this particular bird was trying to attract a mate with this behaviour.

The secret lives of birds.....Woko, have Red Wattlebirds here but I've never seen them go through the courting behaviour. Perhaps the bird was practising? Please describe what you mean by "shimmy". I think I am stupid today. Ha ha.
I'm at Tenterfield, NSW. (Formerly known as "Hyperbirds".)
Rapid shaking of the tail & lower back.
