Roadtrip Central West NSW 1

Recently returned from a roadtrip through the northern & southern tablelands as well as the central west of NSW. First time out there and now can't wait to go back. Managed to add quite a few new species to my tally including the following.

Apostlebird

Black Swan

Yellow-Rumped Thornbill

Red-Rumped Parrot

White-Plumed Honeyeater

Red Wattlebird

WhistlingDuck

Nice shots brian ... i like those two apostle birds, unique looking birds. Good work getting the pair of red rumped parrots.

The red wattle birds are comon down here around sydney - was it a new sighting for you?

Thanks WD, the apostlebirds certainly are unique looking, these ones were in the grounds of the Dubbo Zoo but we did see small flocks scattered out west around Narrabri & Moree. The red-rumped parrots were very common around Dubbo & Goulburn so got quite alot of shots of those. The Red Wattlebirds were a first for me, this one was taken at Wollomombi Gorge about 40km east of Armidale on the Waterfall Way. The Little Wattlebirds are more common up here especially along the coast around Ballina.

Thanks Laza, the WP Honeyeater shot was taken on the outskirts of Tamworth. There were quite a few of them but like alot of small birds very flighty. Took a number of shots & that one was the pick of the bunch.

Did you make it to Canberra if you went to Goulburn?

Hi Ryu, no didn't make it to Canberra. I was in Goulburn for a catch up with a few old school friends, I was born & went to school there before moving to Lismore . Had to head back north after that so wasn't able to get there this time.

Great stuff Brian. Really like the White-plumed HE, lovely shot. Unusual to get two Apostle birds - they are usually in larger groups shoulder to shouler. Well done mate.

Great set Brian. I love the 2 Red Rumps on the ground. The Red Wattlebird would be a new one for me.
