Lucky enought to have a Rose Crowned Fruit Dove nesting the backyard in Gympie, Qld. Very hard to spot despite the apparent bright colours, was very lucky to discover the nest as it is next to a footpath.
trying to get clear line of sight is nearly impossible. First saw them last year when they came to drink at my birdbath, -they would arrive just after sunset for a drink, go figure. Very shy bird.
That's a very beautiful portrait Max
Dont take life too seriously, it never ends well
Such a stunning bird ... excellent photos
Beautiful Max, great shots despite the difficulties of seeing it, well done.
Thanks everyone, the photos are messy because of the surrounding foliage.
will keep an eye on the nest maybe get some better ones over time.
The nest is just so flimsy i'm surpised it has not blown over already
Cracking photos maxhr. You are so lucky to have it so close. The photo quality looks great, you have captured the colour and detail beautifully. I wouldn't say they are messy, just looks like you have put a dark Vignette around, thats all. :)
Wow you are so fortunate to have one nesting in your yard, and you have captured the colours beautifully - I have only seen them once in Queensland on my birthday, and was more than happy with the fact I got to see it even though it was quite high up in dark foliage backlit by bright sunlight, so you've done well
