A bit of excitement on the Redcliffe Peninsula, Qld this week as a Ruff (female is called a Reeve) was sighted at the Nathan Rd Wetlands, Kippa-Ring on Monday. Also present were Wood, Marsh and Pectoral Sandpipers. The Ruff was a bit elusive and I got my best pics Sunday afternoon.
Nice photo Pacman. The light-coloured ruff looks great against the dark swampy marsh.

Wow! Great find Peter.
Was that your first tick ?
no, my earlier sighting was in April '14 at Lindum Rd Wetlands on the southside but the pics were identifible but just, still processing my pics and will most likely have a couple of better ones

I was keen to go and see them but never got around to it. I wonder if they are still there.
he seems to be favouring the NW area and is hidden from the eastern side if you enter from Nathan Rd
enter from Morris Rd through Morris Park, there is a cement path down from the road to the cement walking path, walk maybe 50m E and you will see a mown path to the N, use this path and keep looking to your right or E to see when you have to head off the path to the marshy area, a finger of land comes into the marshy area from the N and he seems to keep to the W of this land and therefore is hidden from the E
I left a trail of boot prints in the marsh for you to follow
I live a Scarborough so PM, or email cranep1@optusnet.com.au or phone me if you want a guide (I will calculate my fees ;-))
Saying that I may be away on Sat as I am buying a camper from Sydney and driving down to pick it up

I went last Friday morning early (really foggy) and went in via Morris Road. Great spot especially for Red-backed Fairy Wrens at the moment.
