This morning I witnessed a Sacred Kingfisher directly dive at a sole Common Myna on the lawn from a distant tree20 m away. It made a shrill purring sound all the while on the attack. The Myna jumped but did not move away. It wasn't till the third dive that the Myna left the place. I haven't seen this befaviour before from a Sacred Kingfisher which I see commonly along our creek. Has anybody else seen this?
I have seen them do this to Crows, Currawongs, Noisy Miners and even Willy Wagtails when its breeding season.
Good on him for chasing the Myna.
